چکیده
Preliminary to a study of benign appendageal tumors of the skin, the results of which will be published separately, the following study of normal apocrine and eccrine glands was undertaken. The use of the periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) and Alcian Blue (AB) stains separately on tissue sections and the clarification of the two color reactions of the PAS stain by Alcian Blue (1) has lead to a better histochemical characterization of some of the structures of normal human eccrine and apocrine glands.

A case of primary signet-ring cell/histiocytoid carcinoma of the eyelid: immunohistochemical comparison with the normal sweat gland and review of the literature.
Primary signet-ring cell/histiocytoid carcinomas of the eyelid are extremely rare tumors considered to originate from sweat glands. Here, we report the case of a 72-year-old man diagnosed with primary signet-ring cell/histiocytoid carcinoma of the eyelid and present immunohistochemical analyses of the eyelid apocrine gland (Moll gland) and apocrine and eccrine sweat glands of perineum and axill...
متن کاملCluster designation 5 staining of normal and non-lymphoid neoplastic skin.
BACKGROUND Immunohistochemical staining for cluster designation 5 (CD5) has been found to label a variety of non-lymphoid tumors. METHODS A variety of eccrine, apocrine, follicular, epithelial, and pagetoid lesions were selected and stained with an anti-CD5 monoclonal antibody (Novocastra Labs, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, clone 4C7) by immunohistochemistry. The intensity of positive cytoplasmic ...
متن کاملPrimary cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma of shin
Primary cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma (PCACC) is a rare variant of adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) which originates from the skin adnexa, most probably eccrine and apocrine glands. This tumor has a head and neck predilection and also occurs in the chest, abdomen, back, and perineum. We hereby present a 63-year-old man with PCACC located on the shin. No previous similar case has been reporte...
متن کاملTwo Cases of Giant Congenital Cutaneous Hamartoma: Nevus Sebaceus of Jadassohn and Congenital Melanocytic Nevus
During the normal development of skin, pluripotential cells give rise to keratinocytes, sebaceus glands, hair follicles, apocrine glands and eccrine glands. A hamartoma, or an abnormal mixture of a tissue’s normal components, results from an error in development, among which some show malignant potential. We report two Chinese cases of giant congenital cutaneous hamartoma, a nevus sebaceus of J...

Apocrine glands are the major type of sweat gland in dogs, and distribution of eccrine sweat glands is limited to footpad (Goldschmidt and Shofer, 1992). Apocrine sweat gland tumors are rather common in dogs and tend to occur on the head, neck and limbs. The Golden Retriever is a breed that shows a predisposition to such tumors (Kalaher et al., 1990). The tumor was greatly resembles its human c...
